Sorrel drink is dark red in colour, a little sour, among many outstanding benefits It is high in vitamin C, and aids iron absorption. Sorrel has a raspberry-like flavour pre-sweetened; (when sweetened tastes like the delicious blackberry) made from the petals of the sorrel plant (flor de Jamaica) or hibiscus plant flower as popularly known in West Africa. In Nigeria, it's referred to as Zobo drink, in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean Islands, it's known as Sorrel Drink.
How to make your own delicious sorrel drink :P
Wash sorrel thoroughly, using the fingers to lift it from the water.
Put into a stainless steel container.
Add peeled grated ginger, to taste (optional)
Boil water and pour over the sorrel leaves
Allow to stand f or 4-6 hours (for richer flavour can be brought to boil then simmered for 5-6 mins, leave to cool)
Sweeten to taste with agave syrup
Serve with ice cubes
Store in the fridge for a cool hydrating beverage in warmer weather.
